Oscar-winner Robert De Niro has disparaged US president Donald Trump during an award gala at the Ziegfeld Ballroom honoring the 70-year-old comic Billy Crystal.
The 75-year-old De Niro took another shot at Trump by calling him the buffoon-in-chief of the White House.
“We’ve got a dangerous buffoon and chief,” he said to roaring approval.
De Niro, who was sent a pipe bomb last month by a wingnut who also targeted influential liberals including former President Obama, continued “I’ll say that again — we’ve got a dangerous buffoon and chief. What we need is a heroic comedian and chief.”
He also noted “The best comedians are honest. Know why?” He asked adding that “Because lying isn’t funny.”
Robert De Niro is an American actor, producer, and director. His body of work includes numerous films that are considered to be among the greatest and most influential worldwide, while he is a recipient of various accolades, including two Academy Awards and many more.
